1. About GridGap

GridGap is a solar and backup-power planning application designed to help users create preliminary estimates for domestic, residential, small-business, and similar backup-power or solar-assisted backup systems.

GridGap may include tools for estimating loads, battery requirements, inverter requirements, solar array requirements, charger requirements, warnings, assumptions, scenario comparisons, version history, equipment checks, installation planning guidance, and PDF reports.

GridGap is operated by Gridgap Ltd.

In these Terms, "GridGap", "we", "us", and "our" refer to Gridgap Ltd. "You" and "user" refer to any person or organisation using GridGap.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using GridGap, creating an account, using the calculator, submitting information, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use GridGap.

3. Important disclaimer: preliminary estimates only

GridGap provides indicative solar and backup-power sizing estimates only.

GridGap is not:

  • a final engineering design tool;
  • an electrical installation design tool;
  • a wiring design tool;
  • a certified solar design tool;
  • a procurement specification;
  • a safety certification system;
  • a replacement for a qualified electrician, solar installer, engineer, or other professional.

All outputs, calculations, warnings, installation guidance, equipment checks, PDF reports, and recommendations generated by GridGap are provided for early planning, feasibility, comparison, and discussion purposes only.

You must not rely on GridGap outputs as the sole basis for purchasing equipment, installing electrical systems, selecting protection devices, sizing cables, wiring solar panels, approving installations, or making safety-critical decisions.

Final system design, equipment selection, installation, testing, commissioning, regulatory compliance, and certification must be completed or verified by suitably qualified professionals in accordance with applicable laws, standards, regulations, manufacturer requirements, and site-specific conditions.

4. User responsibility

You are responsible for:

  • entering accurate and complete information;
  • checking all assumptions used by GridGap;
  • reviewing warnings and limitations;
  • seeking professional advice before acting on any output;
  • ensuring that any project, design, installation, or equipment selection complies with applicable laws and standards;
  • ensuring that your account credentials remain secure.

GridGap results are only as reliable as the information entered by the user and the assumptions used by the system.

5. Account registration

To use the GridGap application, you must create an account.

You may be able to register or log in using:

  • email and password;
  • Google login;
  • Microsoft login;
  • Apple login, if supported;
  • other login providers we may add in the future.

If you register using email and password, we may require you to verify your email address before using the app.

You agree to provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.

6. Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details.

You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

We are not responsible for losses caused by unauthorised account access resulting from your failure to keep your login details secure.

7. Subscription plans

GridGap may offer different subscription tiers, including:

  • Free;
  • Pro;
  • Pro+.

Plan features may include different limits or access rights, such as access to technical mode, saved projects, version history, advanced assumptions, PDF reports, branded reports, equipment checks, installation guidance, or support priority.

We may change plan names, features, limits, and pricing from time to time. If we make material changes to a paid plan, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users.

8. Free tier

The Free tier is intended to allow users to try GridGap and use basic functionality.

We may apply limits to Free accounts, including limits on projects, scenarios, saved versions, reports, advanced features, support level, or export functionality.

We may change or withdraw Free tier features at any time.

9. Payments and billing

Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment provider, currently Stripe.

When you purchase a paid subscription, you agree to provide accurate billing information and authorise the applicable recurring subscription charges.

Stripe may process your payment information and provide billing services, invoices, and customer portal functionality. We do not store full payment card details on our own servers.

Your use of Stripe's services may be subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

10. Subscription renewals

Paid subscriptions renew automatically on a recurring monthly basis unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.

The renewal amount will be charged using the payment method associated with your billing account.

If payment fails, your subscription may become past due, restricted, suspended, or downgraded.

11. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription through the billing portal or any other cancellation method we make available.

Unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated by us, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.

This means:

  • you will not receive a refund for the unused part of the current billing period;
  • your paid features will generally remain available until the end of that billing period;
  • your account may then be downgraded to the Free tier.

12. Refunds

Unless required by applicable law, subscription payments are non-refundable.

We may consider refund requests at our discretion, but we are not required to provide refunds for partial months, unused features, failure to use the service, or cancellation after renewal.

13. Mobile companion apps

GridGap may in the future provide free Android and iOS companion apps.

Mobile apps, if released, may allow users to access the same GridGap account, projects, results, and subscription tier used on the web app.

Paid subscriptions may continue to be managed through the GridGap web account or our payment provider unless we implement native in-app purchases in accordance with applicable app store requirements.

14. Support

GridGap may provide support through help articles, email, support tickets, or in-app support tools.

Support may vary by subscription tier.

GridGap support may help with:

  • account access;
  • billing questions;
  • app usage;
  • bug reports;
  • understanding app outputs;
  • report/export issues.

GridGap support does not provide certified engineering advice, final installation design, code compliance approval, final equipment sign-off, or professional electrical certification.

15. Admin support access

To provide support and investigate issues, authorised GridGap administrators may access account, project, scenario, calculation, result, warning, and support-ticket information where reasonably necessary.

Admin access should be used for legitimate operational purposes such as support, debugging, security, abuse prevention, and service maintenance.

Where practical, admin access to user project data will be read-only and may be logged.

  • use GridGap for safety-critical decisions without professional verification.

17. User content and project data

You retain ownership of the information, project data, scenarios, inputs, and other content you submit to GridGap.

You grant GridGap a limited right to store, process, display, back up, and use that information as necessary to provide the service, generate results, support your account, improve the app, and comply with legal obligations.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload or enter any information into GridGap.

18. Intellectual property

GridGap, including its software, interface, branding, design, calculations, text, structure, logos, and related materials, is owned by or licensed to us.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from GridGap except as allowed by law or expressly permitted by us.

19. PDF reports and outputs

Paid plans may include PDF reports or branded reports.

PDF reports are generated from stored project results and are intended for professional presentation and planning discussions only.

PDF reports remain subject to the same preliminary-estimate disclaimer as all other GridGap outputs.

You must not remove, obscure, or misrepresent disclaimers included in GridGap reports.

20. Availability and changes

We aim to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee that GridGap will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or browser.

We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service at any time.

21. Beta, early access, and developing features

Some GridGap features may be released as beta, preview, experimental, or early-access features.

Such features may change, break, produce incomplete outputs, or be removed.

You should not rely on beta or preview features for important decisions.

22. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GridGap and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers are not liable for:

  • equipment selection errors;
  • installation errors;
  • professional advice failures;

GridGap's total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid to GridGap in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if you used only the Free tier.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

23. No warranty

GridGap is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not warrant that:

  • calculations will be suitable for every site or condition;

  • you breach these Terms;
  • payment fails;
  • we suspect misuse, fraud, abuse, or security risk;
  • we are required to do so by law;
  • continued access would create risk for GridGap or other users.

You may stop using GridGap at any time.

25. Data retention after termination

If your account is terminated or deleted, we may retain certain information where necessary for legal, accounting, security, backup, dispute resolution, or legitimate business purposes.
