How To Compare Equipment Using Equipment Check
Use Equipment Check after calculation, when you have real hardware in mind and want to see how it compares with the current saved result.
What Equipment Check does
Equipment Check is marked as Optional comparison only because it does not change the stored result. It compares the values you enter for candidate batteries, inverters, chargers, controllers, or panels against the applicable requirements in the result you already generated.
That makes it useful for screening options quickly. It is not a shortcut for recalculating the scenario with different assumptions, and it is not a final compatibility check.
Before you start
Equipment Check only makes sense once you understand the result you are checking against. Start by confirming the correct version and scenario on the results page. Then review the result tabs that apply to that scenario type. For example, an AC scenario needs the inverter and charging results, a DC distribution scenario needs the DC distribution and charging results, and a solar scenario needs the solar and controller results as well.
Once that is clear, move into Equipment Check and enter the hardware values you are actively comparing.
What to enter
The form is split into three sections: Battery, Inverter & Charging, and Solar Panels & Controller.
In the battery section, you can enter: Selected battery unit voltage (V), Selected battery unit Ah, Selected battery unit kWh, and Selected battery quantity.
In the inverter and charging section, you can enter: Selected inverter continuous power (W), Selected inverter surge power (W), Selected charger current (A), and Selected MPPT charge current (A).
In the solar and controller section, you can enter: Selected panel wattage (W), Selected panel quantity, Selected panel Vmp (V), Selected panel Voc (V), and Selected MPPT PV input power (W).
You do not need to fill every field every time. Match the form to the hardware you genuinely want to assess and to the scenario type you calculated. If you only want to check an inverter and charger for an AC result, focus on those fields. If you are comparing batteries, panels, and controller values for a solar result, then a broader entry makes sense.
Equipment Check does not currently provide separate selected-equipment fields for DC converters, downstream DC distribution boards, or installation protection devices. For those parts of a DC or mixed AC/DC result, use the DC Distribution, Charging, and Installation Guidance result tabs as the reference.
How to read the comparison
After you click Run Equipment Check, the app returns a summary and then a set of section-based comparison cards.
The summary shows an overall status and counts for Suitable, Borderline, Undersized, and Oversized. Below that, the app breaks the comparison into section cards and field-level checks.
Each check shows the field label, the status, the Selected value you entered, the Reference value from the scenario result, and a short message that explains the comparison outcome.
Use the checks to narrow options and spot obvious mismatches. Some checks can show as Not applicable when the saved result does not contain a matching requirement for that equipment type. Final compatibility, manufacturer guidance, and installation review still sit outside this tool.
