How Inverter Sizing Works In GridGap
This tab is not just about running load. It is also about whether the system can handle startup stress from the appliances you selected.
What the Inverter tab is doing
The battery may be large enough on paper, but the system still needs an inverter that can turn stored DC energy into usable AC power without being pushed too hard. This tab translates the load into inverter terms you can compare with real hardware.
That is why the tab gives both minimum values and recommended values. One shows the technical floor. The other is the more realistic planning answer.
This tab applies to AC inverter paths. DC-only distribution scenarios use the Distribution tab instead. Mixed AC/DC scenarios may need both the Inverter tab and the Distribution tab.
Continuous inverter sizing
System Voltage reminds you of the DC context behind the inverter result. The inverter still has to make sense with the battery side of the scenario.
Minimum continuous inverter is the lower continuous output the system needs to support the modeled running load.
Recommended inverter is the value most people should treat as the practical starting point. If the gap between minimum and recommended feels large, the app is usually buying margin rather than chasing the smallest possible unit.
Surge-related outputs
The surge cards cover startup stress: Minimum surge, Recommended surge, and Worst-case surge.
These matter because motors, compressors, pumps, and similar appliances do not start gently. A setup can look comfortable on running load alone and still feel awkward in practice because startup events hit the inverter hard.
Surge assumptions is worth checking if the numbers look severe. It is the reminder that surge outputs are only as strong as the appliance data behind them.
Load percent and comfort margin
Inverter load percent shows how hard the inverter is being pushed under the current assumptions. High percentage means less breathing room. Lower percentage usually means a calmer system.
A high load percent does not automatically kill the scenario, but it should make you look harder at the surge side and the warning list.
