What GridGap Is And Is Not
GridGap is for early planning. It helps you estimate system size, compare options, and spot obvious pressure points before you get anywhere near final design or installation sign-off.
What GridGap is
GridGap is a solar and backup-power planning application for homeowners, installers, small businesses, RV owners, boat owners, and other users planning off-grid or backup-power systems.
It helps users estimate things such as load demand, battery requirements, battery bank configuration, inverter sizing, charger sizing, solar sizing, advisory solar string layout, warnings, assumptions, versioned result comparisons, and equipment compatibility checks.
Who it is for
It works for both novice and advanced users. A homeowner might stay in Simple mode and use it to shape an early plan. An installer might lean on Technical mode and version history to compare more detailed options.
It is also useful in non-home settings such as RVs, boats, small offices, shops, and warehouses. In mobile or marine contexts, the app's grid charge references can often be read as grid / shore power.
What GridGap is not
It is not a final engineering design tool. It is not a wiring design tool. It is not a safety certification system, a replacement for an electrician or installer, or a final procurement specification.
Why that matters
That boundary matters because the app is intentionally transparent about assumptions, warnings, and limitations. Use it to structure planning, compare options, and prepare for a better professional conversation. Do not use it to skip one.
